Turns Out, I Don’t Hate Trail Running

Which is funny, because the last time I did a small stretch of trail running, I fell and got pretty banged up.  My opinion since then has basically been that I don’t want to run on any surface that isn’t paved. On Friday night over dinner, Jay mentioned that he was hoping to do a…

Goal and Challenges

We all have things we want to accomplish, more commonly known as goals.  Personally, I have fitness goals and professional/career goals.  Sometimes I worry that I have more fitness goals than I have career goals, but I digress. To me, the tricky thing about goals isn’t coming up with them, it’s tracking my progress towards…

Food Friday Edition VI – Chicken Soup!

Why is soup so beloved, why do we cherish our mothers and grandmothers recipes so much…. “What  is it about “soup” that makes it good for us when we’re sick? Homemade bone broth is one of the most powerful superfoods on the planet. It’s made by simmering the bones of a (preferably pasture-raised) animal for 10 –…

Food Friday Edition V – Magical Bolognese

Man, it’s been one of those weeks.  You know, one of those weeks where suddenly the entire executive team needs stuff from you ten minutes ago?  They say thank you for the quick execution on your part, but never really ask what else you have on your plate?  Oh yes, it’s been one of those…

Boston: Find Your Fitness!

Today we have a fantastic guest post from my blogging friend, Hannah Warne, author of The Naturalized New Yorker.  She’s a BU graduate who definitely took advantage of the Boston fitness scene during her college career.  These days she lives in New York City where she writes a great blog about New York City eateries,…

The Love Affair That Never Goes Away

On Friday night, because Jay is a love, he asked me if I wanted to go ice skating on Saturday night.   Of course I wanted to go.  Bad grammar warning:  I never don’t want to go ice skating.  If I could, I’d spend my entire life on the ice.  Alas, adult responsibilities call and…

Food Friday – Edition IV – Lobstah in an Elevator!

Last Friday night Jay and I went out to a gluttonous dinner in the north end of Boston.  Those of you who live here/have traveled here probably know that the north end is full of wonderful Italian restaurants and bakeries.  We had a great meal at Trattoria di Monica and then hit up Modern Bakery…

Food Friday – Edition IV – Paleo Tacos

I’m pretty sure that everyone I know loves tacos.  What’s not to love, right?  The calories, that’s what. Tacos (namely the shells) have A LOT of calories.  Fortunately, there are some alternative way to make them.  Yes, it takes a little more effort than buying a taco kit in the store, but it’s worth it,…

Let’s Talk About Food

Yes, lets.  First, I will mention that I do not have a degree in nutrition.  That aside, I think I’ve picked up some good habits over the years that have kept my relationship with food in check.

2016 Boston Marathon Weekend

Epic. That is really the only accurate way to describe marathon weekend here in Boston.  I haven’t had that much fun in a long time.  Jay and I knew we missed New York, but last weekend really drove that home when half our NikeNYC squad rolled into town for the race and festivities.

Food Friday, Edition II

It’s been off for a few weeks due to general life craziness, but Food Friday is back!  If you’ve been reading my posts, at this point you know that Jay is the chef in our house.  I think I’ve permanently retired from cooking, and I’m totally okay with that.  He cooks, I eat.  It works….
